Reflections on the end of the semester

Hi Everyone,

I look forward to participating in this Ning and may invite my pre-service teachers to be a part next semester, too, if that is OK with the group.

At any rate, I finished grades today and took some time tonight to capture my thinking on the semester. Hope it might give you something to think about as you incorporate newer literacies and technologies into your teaching, too.

I wish you all the… Continue

Hi Troy
I saw your blog post today about using Portable Apps and I need to know more. I wonder if I could twist your arm and get you to write a quick post here at our Ning about how you use it and the benefits.
I am sure I am not alone in wondering how to go about it.
Hope all is well with you!

Hi Troy--Greetings from the UP! We are going to be offering a digital storytelling open institute this summer and I would love to bounce some ideas around some time.

I just put your list of things to do on our Ning.
I hope you don't mind.
I thought it was a wonderful idea

Greetings, Troy. Right now, I spend an hour or two a week in SL. I'm considered something of a phantom. You can make contacts and friends in a few minutes, and many, many things are easy to learn -- but there's also a lot that's more difficult to observe without more time. I am most interested in teaching in SL, specifically in peer/viral education in which users teach each other, though I've observed some classes and more formal ed. too. Findings so far: it's engaging, and engagement is good, but it's also distracting and by no means magically better than "RL" instruction.

Oh, boy... the chapter is actually in my hands now. Dawn wrote it up as a paper for her teacher research/writing class this spring, and now I have to go through it and add my part of the data. Which, of course, would require me to listen to and analyze that data. Which, of course, requires some time. Which, of course.... well, you get the picture.

The draft is due by August 31st, right? So, officially, I still have time, I think...

It's good to be offline now and then.
How is your chapter going?
I haven't yet started mine (yikes) but I am going on a WMWP writing retreat the first week of August to do the bulk of my work on the chapter.

HI Troy!
It's so nice to see you here (writing on your computer in your icon).
How are things?
