Wesley Fryer was the keynote speaker at the KATE 2009 Conference this past week. It was refreshing and gratifying to hear a educational technology expert inspire a room full of English teachers to incorporate new technologies into their instruction of 21st Century learners.
Wes spoke of the digital native vs. the digital immigrant and also referenced those known as digital refugees. He inspired me to build a digital bridge (his term) in both my classroom and Writing Project site. Here is a link to his presentation and I will post a video (with his permission): http://handouts.wesfryer.com/ccc
I was privileged to speak at length with him about the work of the National Writing Project and he is interested in connecting with the site close to him in Edmond, OK as well as continuing the conversation with me and my classroom. One of the coolest apps he shared was this one: http://www.personalizemedia.com/
